March 4, 2013 TKGV Proposed Meeting Minutes

The president opened the March 2013 meeting at 7:15 p.m. with birthday greetings for TKGV members celebrating March birthdays.  The president welcomed our guests and new member.

The February 2013 meeting minutes were approved.

The treasurer reported the guild’s balance prior to this meeting is $5356.60.  The treasurer advised we have not paid the majority of the pending retreat expenses yet.

The vice president updated the guild on the 2013 TKGV knitting contest.  The contest rules are posted in the March newsletter.  Entries are due by September 7, 2013.  All items entered must be knit between September 2012 and September 2013.  The winners will be announced at the October 2013 meeting.

The newsletter chair thanked Lynn Clements for her contributions to the newsletter.  The newsletter chair encouraged all guild members to submit articles for the newsletter.

The charity chair advised yarn is available for charity knitting and thanked the recent charity knit in attendees for participating in this event.  The guild will focus on items for St. Mary’s Home.  St. Mary’s needs lap blankets, mittens, hats and slippers for residents ranging from infancy to age 21.  All items must be machine washable in hot water.  Guild members were reminded to report their charity knitting items, whether for St. Mary’s or other charities on the charity items list.

The president advised the Spring Craft Fair is Friday through Sunday, 3/15 to 3/17.  The guild will have a booth and needs members to support the booth during the fair.  All members who support the booth will receive free entrance to the Spring Craft Fair provided they sign up prior to 3/8/13.

The president advised the Gathering of the Guilds will take place on Saturday, 4/6.  Again, the guild will have a table and needs members to support the table during this event.

The president is participating in the Fine Arts Fair at Western Branch Elementary School on Friday, 4/6.  If any guild members wish to participate, please contact the president.

The president solicits volunteers to plan the guild’s World Wide Knit in Public event(s) for 2013.  We need a team to plan the location(s) and dates for this June event.
