The vice president advised we have a tentative date of 11/3/12 for a weekend of knitting technique classes led by Nancy of Nancy’s Knit Knacks.

The charity chair advised her, her mother and aunt attended the Navy Marine Corps Relief Society Volunteer Recognition luncheon. The Navy Marine Corps Relief Society requests blankets for newborn babies. The blankets should be 36” x 36” finished, without fringe and without large holes that could catch babies’ fingers. The Society requests we do not mix blue and pink in the same blanket. We can use other colors with pink or blue, but not mix blue and pink in the same blanket. Please bring any blankets to a meeting. The charity chair will get the blankets to the Society. In addition, the Virginia Beach SPCA seeks pet blankets. The Yarn Club is collecting knitted and crocheted squares from any type of yarn for the “Hugs from the Heart” blanket project to support the All Heart Home Health & Hospice charity. The only specification for the squares is that they are 8” x 8” finished.

The president advised we will sponsor two opportunities to participate in the World Wide Knit in Public event this year. The guild will meet on Sunday, June 10 at 12:00 p.m. at the cafĂ© at Nordstroms at MacArthur Mall for a WWKIP session. The guild will meet again on June 16 at the Tide’s baseball stadium to watch a baseball game and knit in public. The cost for the baseball tickets is $11.00 per ticket. Guild members and family members are welcome. Please bring your money for the baseball tickets to the June meeting.

The president advised the guild seeks volunteers to write articles about other members or to volunteer to have an article written about them in the guild’s newsletter.
